Terms of Service

Effective Date: September 1, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ClassCam (the "Service"), operated by ShockleyLaserworks ("ClassCam," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who Can Use ClassCam

ClassCam is intended for use by teachers and school staff for classroom instruction. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. ClassCam does not knowingly collect information from or provide accounts to children. Students do not create accounts; they may access a read-only, PIN-protected classroom viewer link that a teacher provides.

2. Your Account

You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when you register, and to notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Inactivity: Free-tier accounts that remain inactive (no sign-in) for 30 consecutive days are automatically deleted, along with their associated classroom board settings. We'll email you a warning at least 7 days before deletion; signing in at any point resets this clock. This does not apply to active Pro subscriptions or district/school admin accounts.

3. The Service

ClassCam lets teachers capture photos of physical documents or student work using a mobile device and display them in real time on a classroom screen or computer. Photos uploaded to the Service are automatically and permanently deleted no later than 90 minutes after upload. We do not retain copies beyond that window.

4. Plans, Billing, and Cancellation

ClassCam offers a free tier with limited daily uploads and a paid "Pro" tier billed monthly or annually. Payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe; we do not store your full card information ourselves.

5. Referral Program

ClassCam may offer promotional credit (such as free trial periods) to users who refer others, and to the users they refer. Referral rewards are provided at our discretion, are time-limited as stated at the time of the offer, have no cash value, and may be modified, limited, or discontinued at any time. We reserve the right to revoke rewards obtained through fraud or abuse of the referral system.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

You are responsible for the content you photograph and upload, including making sure it's appropriate for display in your classroom and that you have any necessary rights or permissions to share it.

7. Content Ownership

You retain all rights to the photos and content you upload. Because content is automatically deleted within 90 minutes, we don't retain any long-term copy or license to your content beyond what's technically necessary to operate the Service (transmitting, temporarily storing, and displaying it) during that window.

8. Third-Party Services

ClassCam relies on third-party providers to operate: Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email), and Cloudflare (hosting, storage, and infrastructure). Your use of the Service is also subject to the applicable terms of those providers where relevant.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abuse of the referral program, or pose a security risk to the Service or other users, with or without notice depending on severity.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ClassCam and ShockleyLaserworks will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the updated Terms here with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. (Confirm this matches your actual state of operation before publishing.)
